Year 7 & 8
Foundation Phase

To enable students to become increasingly physically competent through being actively engaged in a range of physical activities, and to become increasingly effective in their performance in different types of physical activity and roles such as player/participant, leader and official
– 4 week block – Baseline testing – Swimming, Sportshall Athletics, X-Country & Games.
– Sports Education block through Games.
– Gymnastics – Floorwork, flight, balances, travel – Gym/ Dance festival
– Swimming
– Core Fitness Programme (4 lessons) – Methods of training, heart rate, core stability exercises.

Year 9
Transition Phase

To prepare students to make informed decisions about further learning opportunities and career choices
– Compulsory sports – Personal survival, Dance, Trampolining, 1 X Game & Fitness.
– 2 groups – Performance & Active groups
– Summer term – Pupils choose 3 sports from 6 options
