BTEC Sport

INTRODUCTION TO THE
COURSE:

The course is co-ordinated and managed by Miss Traynor (course leader) who is assisted by Mrs Noblett.

The first diploma in sport (BTEC) has run for the last 5 years, originally being delivered to Year 12 then offered to Year 10 for the last 2 years.

Despite the title of the course, students are not required to take GCSE Sports Studies, or indeed be a talented sportsperson.  An interest in sport, however, is
recommended.

The BTEC is worth 4 GCSES at
C or above, but all assignments must be, at least, Pass standard

BTEC is
graded differently to a GCSE. You can get a:

·        Pass
(equivalent to GCSE grade C)

·        Merit
(equivalent to GCSE grade B)

·        Distinction
(equivalent to GCSE grade A)

·        Distinction*
(equivalent to GCSE grade A*)

·        Anything
below a pass is a U grade, there are no D, E, F or G grades

Work is assessed in a number of different ways to ensure that written work is not the only medium being assessed.  Pupils are often expected to teach their peers and/or younger pupils, give power point presentations or give answers
verbally.

Should you have any further
questions, please do not hesitate to ask Miss Traynor or Mrs Noblett
